Responsible to plan, organize and direct all department, shop and field activities. Duties include but are not limited to determining scope of department work and projects, job objectives, schedules, budget considerations and personnel assignments. Liaisons with customer contacts and subcontractors regarding project details, scope and specifications. Potential sales calls. Maintain liaison with estimators to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications and schedule. Plan, organize and make staffing suggestions for key office and field positions to support overall department goals and objectives, as directed by the Company President. Review and monitor department status and progress. Communicate with Human Resources and Company President regarding disputes, requisitioning required manpower, etc., as necessary. Monitor overall quantity of work performed by staff. Work with Company President to develop standards and procedures for the department. Maintain liaison and provide support to other departments, division and subsidiary units as required. Monitor compliance with project safety program requirements. Document and ensure corrective measures are implemented. Ensure all appropriate PPE is being worn and that safety is promoted on all jobsites and work environments. Interface and communicate with project managers regarding potential problems, work interferences, schedule difficulties, etc. Assist in circumventing/resolving such problems as required. Ensure that timecards are accurate, and submitted to Payroll for timely processing. Complete performance evaluation forms and merit increase proposals. Mentor, train, support and direct foremen. Must monitor and direct interface with insurance carriers through managed programs or direct with carriers. Understand claim processing and ability to communicate and navigate insurance work. Negotiate estimate discrepancies with carriers. Provide monitoring, support, and training for field and office crews to communicate at a high level with a variety of audiences. Manage and coordinate on-call rotations including Manager-on-Duty processing. Be ready and available for 24/365 work through creating and implementing responsive systems to handle such calls. Additional assignments per direction of Company President.
Requirements include current valid PA driver’s license, 4 year degree in appropriate discipline (Business, Construction, Management) or equivalent combination of experience and education. Working knowledge of various construction disciplines, cost control, scheduling, safety regulations. Ability to supervise and evaluate craft performance. At times, may be in the field working in a variety of capacities to support or direct field crews. Should possess basic hand tools. Should have familiarity with or being ready to train in all specifications of property damage emergency work including water, smoke, fire and mold services. Certifications and/or training in restoration skills (IICRC, etc.) a plus. Experience with Xactimate estimating software preferred. Capable of planning, directing and controlling work activities. Able to evaluate information and analyze problems logically to develop solutions. Maintain agreeable working conditions with others. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Able to speak, hear and see well either naturally or with correction. May sit for long periods of time or be required to climb ladders and be on scaffolding occasionally. Flexible, open-minded and a true team player who desires the success of the team rather than individual success; motivates a team and drives their forces.
